商品詳情

Shingles, commonly known as herpes zoster, is caused by the varicella virus. After chickenpox heals, the virus remains dormant in the body's nerves. As we age, our immune system weakens, and the virus can become reactivated, increasing the risk of developing shingles. Regardless of whether you have received shingles vaccinations in the past, the new generation shingles vaccine (herpes zoster) is recommended.

Shingles can cause pain that can last up to four weeks, severely impacting daily life and potentially leading to blindness or deafness. Approximately one in four patients may develop postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) that can last for months or even years. Anyone who has had chickenpox is at risk of developing shingles. Approximately half of patients are 60 years of age or older. Studies have found that people with diabetes have a 2.4-fold increased risk of developing shingles and a 1.3-fold increased risk of postherpetic neuralgia. People who have had shingles also have a higher incidence of cardiovascular disease, with the risk of stroke and heart disease peaking in the first year of life. Shingles vaccination is the most effective preventative measure!
